Texas Tomorrow: Preserve and Enhance is the name for the master planning process that is taking place in Texas Charter Township.
Beginning in August 2019 through late 2020, Township residents, stakeholders, staff, and officials will work together to create a new Master Plan, Sub-Area Plans for the Texas Corners district and the I-94/9th Street interchange area, and an updated Parks and Recreation Plan. Together these documents will express the community’s vision for the Township over the next 20 years, and chart the strategies to make that vision into reality.
To facilitate the process, a seven-member Steering Committee is leading the effort, along with Township staff. Their work will be strengthened by the involvement of community members throughout 2019 and 2020.
Texas Charter Township is responsible for reviewing its Master Plan every five years, as required by the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, Act 33 of 2008, as amended. The Township’s current Master Plan was written in 1999, and updated in 2007 and 2014.
With significant public input, the new Master Plan will position Texas Charter Township for continued success, expressing and confirming the aspirations of residents and businesses.
Texas Tomorrow: Preserve and Enhance will direct Township policies and future decisions relating to land use, transportation, neighborhoods, environmental challenges, and preservation of agriculture and open space, among other topics.
Texas Tomorrow: Preserve and Enhance will be action-oriented, identifying priority steps to ensure Texas Charter Township remains an excellent place to live, own a business, work, and visit for the next 20 years.
Most importantly, Texas Tomorrow: Preserve and Enhance will not be complete without YOUR input! Residents, business owners, and those employed in Texas Charter Township all have a stake in the community’s future. Please take advantage of the many opportunities to give input during this process, which are detailed on this website.
